I plan to keep this one short… I am thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for placing this mission, Project Follow On, on my heart and seeing it come to fruition. By the grace of God, we just crossed the start line with no intention of looking back. As with anything, do not expect perfection, we will not see that until we cross to the other side of glory. Things will improve with time, but no matter what we will strive to keep the main thing front and center, the Lord and His will.
My prayer for this project is to strengthen men towards the ultimate goal of building the Kingdom of God and glorifying the only One worthy of all honor, glory, praise, and worship now and forever more... The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End (Rev. 22:13)… Jesus Christ
I am committed to the mission to, “Equip our nation’s greatest warriors with God’s greatest weapon.” I desire to take up my cross for the cause of Christ, to plant a stake in the ground that unashamedly declares that Jesus is King, and to come alongside men as they battle against sin and the evil of this world through the all-sufficient power of God’s Word.
As a man just like you, I do not have all the answers… but the Word of God is sufficient and will lead us in the paths of righteousness (Ps. 23:3) as we seek to discover the Character of God, His Holy attributes, His plan for our lives, and how to bring the most glory to His Kingdom in this life. If we do this, we will find the greatest joy imaginable. We will find that our lives have true meaning, purpose that we never thought possible.
Many of you are currently in what seems like an uphill battle. You feel lost, directionless, maybe even purposeless. I have been there. In many ways, I am still finding my next objective as well. Join me on this mission, “Project Follow On,” as we search the Holy Scriptures and come to a greater knowledge of the truth, with a warrior mindset not set on the things of this world, but on Christ and bringing glory to His name!
Call to action: I commend this poem (below) to you. Read it out loud and think about what it means for your life. How will you be remembered? Also, stop and pray today. We need more prayer (thanks to my friend George for this reminder). That is all for now.
Only One Life - By C.T. Studd
“Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life,’ twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, the still small voice,
Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave,
And to God’s holy will to cleave;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, a few brief years,
Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill,
living for self or in His will;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
When this bright world would tempt me sore,
When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way,
Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Oh let my love with fervor burn,
And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone,
Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one,
Now let me say,”Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call,
I know I’ll say “twas worth it all”;
Only one life,’ twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
“Thus says the LORD: ‘Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls…” (Jeremiah 6:16 ESV)
